Astilbe Dark Side of the Moon forms mounds of deep chocolate foliage with dark stems and raspberry-red buds which will blossom into upright, pink-purple plumes. Ideal for cut flowers and the first Astilbe of its kind, this dramatic variety provides massive colour interest with its foliage emerging yellow before developing into almost black. Perfect for adding summer colour into moisture rich sites, this superb variety will look best when contrasted against yellow foliage plants such as hostas. How to grow: Plant astilbes in sun or dappled shade. Astilbe plants require rich fertile soil that remains permanently moist, even in the height of summer. A boggy soil next to a pond or stream is ideal. On drier soils, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or compost prior to planting and choose a shaded position. Water regularly during hot, dry periods to prevent the soil from drying out. Divide over-crowded clumps of astilbe in spring, when necessary, to increase their longevity. Apply a mulch around the base of the plant in spring to conserve moisture in the soil. Please note: This product cannot be delivered outside the United Kingdom. Product specifications: .
