You can also expect gorgeous plump red berries to follow after, where the birds love to feed from! Plant Berberis in full sun or partial shade, on a reliably moist, well-drained soil. Barberry plants are extremely resilient and will grow on many different soil types, except waterlogged. To keep hedges in good shape, trim back lightly after flowering each year.
