In Victorian England, it was even a popular Christmas table decoration. 'Apistar' forms a vigorous yet slightly weeping tree, a late-picking variety ready from November to December. The decorative green fruits develop an attractive red or orange blush on the sun-facing side, revealing a perfect five-pointed star when sliced. Its white flesh is crunchy, juicy, and offers a delightful sweet-tangy flavour. The thick, waxy skin ensures exceptional keeping quality, storing well until May.
