Introducing Apple 'Apistar', a truly remarkable and ancient variety boasting fruits with a spectacular star shape, exquisite flavour, and a fascinating history dating back to Roman times. Rediscovered and modernly named 'Apistar', this rare apple was known to European monastic communities as 'Pomum Pentagonum', revered for its distinctive star pentagon shape symbolising religious significance. In Victorian England, it was even a popular Christmas table decoration. 'Apistar' forms a vigorous yet slightly weeping tree, a late-picking variety ready from November to December. The decorative green fruits develop an attractive red or orange blush on the sun-facing side, revealing a perfect five-pointed star when sliced. Its white flesh is crunchy, juicy, and offers a delightful sweet-tangy flavour. The thick, waxy skin ensures exceptional keeping quality, storing well until May. This variety is grafted onto M111 rootstock, resulting in a dwarf tree with a strong root system that thrives even in poorer soils, reaching an ultimate height and spread of approximately 2. 5m. How to Grow Light: Full sun for best fruit colour. Temperature: Suitable for most UK climates; late flowering helps avoid frost. Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry periods, until established. Feeding: Apply a balanced fertiliser in early spring. Avoid excessive nitrogen.
